Bistro 38, Joondalup Resort

I had the pleasure of attending a Blogger's Lunch with The Chef, His Wife and the Perthfect Life and Eat Scout to sample the new menu at Bistro 38 at the Joondalup Resort. I don't get up that way a lot and hadn't heard of the resort before receiving the invitation so was surprised as I drove down Country Club Boulevard (I am serious - that's the road that the Joondalup Resort is on!), to find myself in a little oasis that felt so far removed from the hectic morning I'd had.

The Joondalup Resort is a 70 room resort located in Connolly which boasts an impressive golf course, three restaurants and conference/ball facilities. 



We were presented with three courses on share plates.The food was top notch - everything was delicious and beautifully prepared! Most of the dishes were gluten free or could be gluten free which is great news for the Coeliacs and people with gluten intolerance.


We were seated outside overlooking the pool. After the long (30+ minute) drive from my place to Joondalup, it kind of felt like I had escaped on a mini-holiday getaway. It was quite and tranquil around the resort... the sort of place you feel you need to speak using a hushed voice and where a big hat, sunglasses and a cocktail would not seem out of place!

I confess, my eyes apparently overtook all other sensory organs, most noticeably my ears and I didn't listen to the description of the dishes. I have been able to match most things with the menu, which unfortunately has been put on the website as a jpg file and is a bit hard to read (apologies for any mistakes).


Starters

Gorgonzola $12

Marinated olive (GF)$4.50

Salt and pepper squid, sesame, shichimi dressing (GF)$12

Soft shell crab, wakame, wasabi mayonnaise $14

Duck and chicken liver parfait, brioche, fig and fennel relish $10

Mains

Charred asparagus, goats curd, vincotto, garlic migas $11

Lamb cutlets, grilled witlof, radicchio, lemon $35



Ricotta gnocchi, wild mushroom, chestnut, parmesan $30
